BPA has decided to launch its Accreditation Board named ‘Bangladesh Board of Physiotherapy Specialists (BBPS)’ to confer ‘Board Certification’ to enable its members to pursue specialist level education and experience through ‘Board Certification’.
After passing the exam, members can claim fallowing credentials:
- Board Certified Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Specialist
- Board Certified Neurological Physiotherapy Specialist
- Board Certified Sports Physiotherapy Specialist
- Board Certified Pediatric Physiotherapy Specialist
- Board Certified Obs-Gyn Physiotherapy Specialist
- Board Certified Cardio-Resp Physiotherapy Specialist
All certification programs takes 12-18 months of formal and informal education in various specialty with clinical attachment included. After finishing the course, ‘Board Certification’ exam will take place and in future in every aspect, these certifications will be treated as BPA approved Post professional Physiotherapy qualification.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Specialist Certification
BBPS has established minimum eligibility requirements to sit for the specialist certification examinations: (1) current general membership of BPA (2) evidence of a minimum of 1,000 hours of residency.
Specialty councils, with the approval of BBPS, develop specific requirements to be eligible to sit for the certification examination in their specialty area. These requirements vary across specialty areas and include factors such as evidence of hours in general physical therapy practice, hours of direct patient care, and evidence of competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care.
